Local musicians and dancers are coming together on September 25th for a fun event to raise money for local homeless veterans and animal welfare organizations. The event, Vida de Las Cruces, will take place at the Alma de Arte Charter School, Court Youth Center.
Created by local musicians Russ Smith and Jeff Steinborn, Vida de Las Cruces will showcase a variety of Las Cruces entertainment, while raising money for some important causes.
\"There are a lot of veterans struggling in the community,\" Smith said. \"We wanted to help support them and improve animal welfare in this creative new way.\"
Vida de Las Cruces will feature bands including: Adrian Vigil, Crooked Beaver Creek, Travis James Manning, La Cella Bella, Triple Jack, Cambden and Pacheco, the Casual Fridays, and Lawrence Montes. Musical entertainment will be complimented by dancing from the NMSU Dance Department and the Las Cruces School of Dance & Music. Smith and Steinborn, both drummers, will also be performing in the Vida de Las Cruces House Band along with singer Tess Fresquez, bass player Joe Miele, and guitarist Travis Manning.
The event will be emceed by Lynz of 99.5, The Rocket and Trinity of Magic 105. The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico is serving as the fiscal agent for Vida de Las Cruces.
Vida de Las Cruces will take place on September 25 at the Court Youth Center Alma de Arte Charter School, 402 W. Court Ave. The show beings at 7 pm, with doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are available for $20 at Mountain View Market Co-op, Enchanted Gardens, Better Life Foods, Happy Dog Grill, and at the door. Tickets are also available by phone at 575-640-8283.
