Everyday Discoveries – International Design House Exhibition seizes Suvilahti in Helsinki, Finland, between 6 and 16 September 2012. The World Design Capital Helsinki 2012’s main international exhibition brings household design treasures from 23 countries for people to see and experience.

The free exhibition provides something to see and do for the whole family from a container village to a cafe and from a design shop to an urban garden. The visitors will have a chance to experience a North American children’s play park or try out Irish hurling, among many other things. Finland\'s exhibition will present design solutions for the extreme northern conditions.

The press conference and the preview to the exhibition will be organised on Wednesday 5 September at 11am. The exhibition will be presented by Secretary General Dilki de Silva from the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid), which operates the WDC designation; the exhibition’s curator Elina Aalto from Imu Design, as well as Managing Director Mikko Kalhama from Design Forum Finland, which has produced the exhibition.

The event will end with a tour of the exhibition during which the representatives from the 23 countries will be able to tell about their participation.

The event will be hosted by the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 Executive Director Pekka Timonen and Programme Director Kaarina Gould. The languages used at the event will be Finnish and English.
