7th Annual Backyard Science Days–Coming This Weekend

August 11 and 12, Noon to 4pm Both Days

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science can happen in a lab, science can happen in space and science can happen in your own back yard! Come to the Maryland Science Center\'s 7th annual Backyard Science Days for a day of animal encounters and hands-on activities. Stomp on stomp rockets, race vegetables and learn about the science that lives right outside your back door. Whether you like slimy or furry, snakes or turtles, bugs or birds – you are sure to run into your favorite neighborhood critter.

Backyard Science Days will put visitors face-to-face with a Big Brown bat from North America and hear its high-pitched echolocation with a bat detector, see fruit bats from Africa and Asia, and meet the largest bat in the world, the Gigantic Flying Fox Bat from Malaysia with a six-foot wingspan in Rob Mies\'s famed Bat Encounters show. Performances will be on our Atrium Stage at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

All activities free with paid admission, completely free for members.
