Designwindow
In Vantaa, we meet at the Designwindow. Even a random visitor can quickly find the space located near the railroad station, with the WDC 2012 theme colours painted on the pavement.
During the year, this space shall be occupied with the WDC Helsinki 2012 projects located in Vantaa. The “Environments for City Centres, Living, and Work” series of exhibitions will emphasise the urban planning in Vantaa. The series is divided into four changing exhibitions that cover most of the year. The visitors are invited to study the high-quality city architecture and urban planning in Vantaa via the themes “Art, design and the city,” “Aviapolis – Airport city,” “The renewing centres,” and “Marja-Vantaa – Ring track”.
Designwindow also acts as a platform for different workshops, lectures, discussion forums and meetings arranged in the space.
A specialty of the Designwindow is the Silence Media Center chair, where you can sit down and listen to video interviews where artists talk about the works of the Leinelä region, or to study the Helsinki parish and the St. Lauri Chapel – the oldest building in Vantaa.
Designwindow, located at Asematie 3 in Tikkurila, is open Tuesday to Friday from 11.00 to 18.00, and Saturday from 11.00 to 15.00.
