Art of the Plains: The 27th American Plains Artists Annual Juried Exhibit & Sale

Sept. 8, 6-8 p.m.

This national art show will be on display in the museum\'s Legacy and Traditions galleries from Sept. 9 through Oct. 30. The show features 118 works in various mediums from artists across the country. Subjects include landscapes, Native Americans, cowboys, horses, wildlife and more.

The opening reception and announcement of awards is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 8. The juror for the show is world-renowned artist Robert \"Shoofly\" Shufelt of Hillsboro, N.M., and he will speak at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8. The title of his lecture is \"My Adventures in Western Art.\" Admission is free to the reception and lecture.

Basic Dowsing Class

Sept. 10, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Learn the basics of dowsing (questing, divining, water witching), how to use the four basic dowsing tools, and the benefits associated with dowsing. The cost for the workshop is $15 ($12 for Friends of the Museum).
