DO...experience IRIS A Journey Through the World of Cinema, the new and permanent performance of Cirque du Soleil in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theatre. Based on the film-making history of Hollywood, the acrobatic show takes you on a thrilling and artistic journey through the world of American cinema. A total of 72 performers bring together dance, death-defying stunts, live video, filmed sequences and animation. Purchase ticket online for the highly anticipated show that debuts this July.

DO...be among the first visitors to discover the brand-new Dinosaur Hall at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Opening in July, This state-of-the-art dino experience is twice the size of the NHM’s previous exhibit, and it features more than 300 fossils, 20 full-body specimens, manual and digital interactives and large-format video. Revelers can wander 360 degrees around — and even underneath — some of the most impressive specimens in the museum’s collection. GET A SNEAK PEAK OF THE NEW DINOSAUR HALL.

DO...get in the action at the LA Film Festival. Coming to Downtown June 16–26, the 2011 festival features screenings of more than 200 films, shorts and music videos at venues such as L.A. LIVE's Regal Cinemas, NOKIA Theatre and The GRAMMY Museum. Visitors to the festival can score great ticket packages, hotel discounts and dining deals at the festival website. Last year, 92,000 attended the screenings and events, and this year anticipates even more cinephiles to flock to the ever-expanding festival. Passes are available to the general public, and there are nine free films on the schedule.

DO...watch the Best Summer Concerts. Los Angeles has an outstanding lineup of bands and performers coming to stages all over the city this summer.

DO...explore the colorful creative works of film director Tim Burton with a visit to the fabulous new exhibit at LACMA. Opened May 29, the highly anticipated exhibit features 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, storyboards, puppets, costumes and much more from the revered SoCal native, whose groundbreaking work takes cues from gothic fairytales, cartoons and pop culture. The exhibit will continue through Oct. 31 at LACMA's Resnick Pavilion.

DO...see "1001 Inventions," the newest interactive exhibit that is making a stop at the California Science Center on its tour around the world. From London to Istanbul and on now in LA, the exhibition reveals how immensely the Muslim world's scientific advancements in the past thousand years have shaped today's world. Explore how modern numbers came to be, the oldest known map of America and centuries-old medical instruments. Don't miss the life-size elephant clock replica. Free and open the public through Dec. 2011.

DO...stroll through LA's Art Walks. From Downtown's burgeoning art scene to Venice's longstanding funkiness to San Pedro's eclectic collections near Los Angeles Harbor, local art walks give both locals and visitors an opportunity to get the true flavor of a community, not to mention a much-needed art fix.

DO...sip and savor the vintages and views in Malibu’s rolling wine country. Malibu Family Wines offers a tasting venue for Malibu Family Wines owned by the Semler and DeJoria families (yes, the king of hair care loves a good grape) deep in the Santa Monica Mountains. LA’s own secret Napa can be found on Mulholland Highway just 25 miles north of Santa Monica. A stop at the outdoor tasting bar brings the heady aroma of the local terroir in flights of chardonnays, merlots, syrahs and cabernets. Enjoy the wine and the time and keep the Malibu Family Wine glasses as a souvenir. Open everyday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to also check out their summer concert series.

DO...check out the new Venice Skate Plaza built right onto the beach at Venice Beach. Serious skateboarders and in-line skaters test their skills, grace and speed over a course of humps, bumps and jumps while crowds cheer them on, daily from 9 a.m. to sunset.

DO...get a first-hand glimpse of the backlots at Universal Studios Hollywood. After renowned sets were devastated by a fire in June 2008, the legendary New York streetscapes have been rebuilt bigger and better than ever — and with the help of director Steven Spielberg. The tram tour is free with park admission, and starting June 2, Late Show host Jimmy Fallon will narrate your trip through movie-making history. The tour also includes the park's signature attraction, King Kong 360 3D, an action-packed ride based on the Oscar-winning 2005 Peter Jackson film.
